Tune-Up?

Not sure what is wrong with my car. Sometimes when I turn the key in the ignition the dash lights up, like the car will start, but then the engine doesn't turn over. The car is not five years old, has under 45K miles on it, and it receives regular maintenance. Tank full of gas. If I step on the break, shift the car into drive, then back to park, turn off, lock the steering wheel, get out of the car, slam the door, and get in and start all over again the car starts fine.

This has happened three times this month. Today I had was in front of Gagnon's shoe repair on Derby Street in Salem. While trying to keep my mind even I wondered if I had enough quarters to feed the meter until AAA could be on the scene. I went through the routine and my car started. Voila.

It got me to thinking about life, and our thoughts, and how sometimes it seems as if we have everything in order but vital connections are not made and we don't understand. The connections may be in our minds, with colleagues, in circumstances, and sometimes even with spirit. Sometimes everything is in working order but the connection doesn't hold.

Of course, this doesn't mean that I won't call the garage and get my car serviced. But, it got me to thinking about connections. Also, it got me to thinking about how we make connections. We always have to take the steps to help make the connections. That may be finding a new way to communicate with others, checking in with ourselves to find new possibilities and awareness levels, and sometimes it is as simple as calling the mechanic.

With A Single Thought

Today a friend sent a video on facebook that was pretty funny. It was Eddie Izzard and the Death Star Canteen. Izzard jokes that there must be a cafeteria on the Death Star and that Darth Vader may go there for lunch. In the video DV gets into a tiff with a canteen worker, who does not recognize him, and he says "I can kill you with a single thought" and "I can kill myself with a single thought."

How often do we think about the powerful nature of our thoughts? Can we kill others and ourselves with our thoughts? We can kill the spirit of others with unkind thoughts, attitudes, and words. We can instill fear. We can kill ourselves with a single thought whenever we think "I can't" or "I'm not good enough". But, we can only do so with permission from ourselves or others.

For the rest of the day I resolve to not kill anyone, including myself, with a single thought. If we can kill with thoughts we can also live, prosper, grow, love, thrive, and if there is time maybe squeeze in lunch at the canteen.

Rainy Day In Salem

It is pouring outside. Some would call this a Nor'easter. I feel bad for the local merchants because October is the big season.

Last night I went for a walk downtown Salem and I was surprised by how many tourists were out and about. It's only mid-month! Lights in store front windows offering psychic readings, haunted tours, seances, aura photography, spells, hexes administered or removed, and books, potions, herbs, oil, and schwag. The schwag is the common tourist trap junk that people buy such as sweatshirts, shot glasses, and bumper stickers.

The amusement park rides that a week ago were at the Topsfield Fair, the oldest fair in the US, by the way, are now parked on Derby Street through 10/31. The ferris wheel looms across from Murphy's Bar, that used to be Roosevelt's, and about every ten feet you can find a fried dough stand. Vendors sell everything from wool sweaters and caps to jewelry and blankets.

It is the Witchcraft Hysteria that makes Salem famous at Halloween. From persecution to profit.

I'm not a witch. My family does not practice witch craft. I know several witches and they have a peaceful, earth-centered, and loving vibration. My family does not participate in the Halloween trade or even in the spiritual marketplace. Nothing against those who do. Some do very fine work. Some not so much. Be careful and do your homework first when you hire someone for spiritual services! My family is just too busy at regular jobs, maintaining homes, pets, making music, and living a very normal life. We look more like we jumped off the cover of LL Bean and less like mediums! For us it is just a spiritual journey that we have been quietly on for now just about three generations. Just simple Spiritualist mediums (I'm not so developed as my Mom and Grandmother) who are careful to distinguish between that which is psychic and that which is spirit.

As the crowds swell in Salem each year I am beginning to think that more people are interested in knowing the difference. Or, maybe they just want a shot glass with a witch flying on a broomstick. Who knows? Who cares. People are paying attention and maybe they will learn something in the process.

A Day Off

Took a walk downtown Salem today and went to Pampelmousse to buy a bottle of champagne. Pampelmousse is an adorable little boutique foodie store on Essex Street down by the Peabody Essex Museum. Expensive, but I had a $25 gift card and there is lots to celebrate. My husband has a relatively new job and his health benefits kicked in yesterday. One of my best friends just got a snazzy cool pad right smack downtown and she recently learned that she is not getting laid off in this crazy economy. And, I decided to eliminatemore clutter. This time I took a broom and pan to the scenarios and commitments that no longer serve me and that splinter my energy away from what truly serves my higher good on an emotional, spiritual, physical, and even financial plane. I'm self-employed and I cut all the peripheral stuff that doesn't generate income, yet gives professional high status, and that makes it so I work 24/7. Basically, I ran a course of professional and personal feng shui. Tonight, I raise a glass to friends, intentions, prosperity, and vibrant energy. Finally, to new opportunities.

Downtown is packed today. Hooray for all of the merchant's who rely on a good October! It's good for the city. It's only September 26th but Halloween has started.

I'm Back

Flipping through an old journal I found this quote:

We cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibers, our actions run as causes and return to us as results. - Herman Melville.

Ectoplasmic Cocktail!

Remember, be careful. Do not mix your spirits! This form of ectoplasm is best conjured AFTER you sit, not before or during, and in the company of good friends who are still here on the earth plane. And, don't drive if you indulge.

In an old-fashioned glass, filled with ice, add 3oz Vodka, 1 1/2 oz Grand Marnier, 1 1/2 oz Blue Curacao, 1 splash orange juice. Stir and serve.

Why Prosperity?

Some thoughts on why it is important to allow prosperity:
"In order to be truly happy, we must live balanced lives. To be in great fiscal health is very much like being in great physical health: it allows you to do more and be more, and it permits you to live your life free of constant pain and bondage."
-The Five Lessons A Millionaire Taught Me About Life And Wealth, Richard Paul Evans.

Now, go out and manifest some Prosperity! It is really quite simple. Plant some seeds, water them, set the plant in the light, and watch the leaves grow!

Where have the blog posts gone?

So, this blog got off to a bang with lots of postings and then I stopped. What's up with that?

I have spent years aligning energies in my life for certain situations to occur and they seem to be occuring all at once.

The Law Of Use, (see post from about a month ago)states that we have to use our talents and use our resources. When you combine the Law Of Use with The Law Of Attraction you may find that there comes a point where you must lay down the Law Of Pay Attention. Now, I don't know if that is really a law. But, for me, that Law has made me notice opportunties, situations, alliances, and possibilities that are extraordinary. So, for the last month I have been using The Law Of Slow Down, in regards to this blog, so that I could pick up some of the low lying fruit. When you start picking up the fruit you sometimes go into The Law Of Speed Up in other areas. It balances out.

What does that mean? It means use your resources, intend what you want, then notice the opportunities that exist so that you resources and your intentions manifest. The Law of Attraction is not a sit down and wait process. It is a very active, doing, making, and creating process.

One last thing...don't mistake the events that seem like failure to set you off the course. They must occur to balance your knowledge base and to allow the life lessons to take place so that you know what you are doing when your intentions come rolling in. Don't ask - just trust me on this one.

I will definitely be posting more. But this past month I have been off in the world facilitating the numerous Natural Laws. Gotta run, back to The Law Of Speeding Up!

Your Money Or Your Life

Read a great book called Your Money Or Your Life by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin.

The authors consider money to be a means to exchange life energy. How we choose to use the life energy is up to us. We can choose to waste it, save it, honor it, love it, hate it, fear it, invest it, and even learn to just live with it. Mostly it is about having enough money. No more, no less than needed. Optimally, your expenses are very low and your investments are large enough to meet your monthly needs easily and with some to spare and share.

This book has long been popular in the Voluntary Simplicity, Frugality, Financial Independence, and Eco-Conscious crowd. It definitely has a metaphysical approach to money.

But what I like most is the emphasis on what people must DO. It is not enough to simply intend, to visualize, and to affirm oneself into prosperity and enoughness. The authors discuss followers of the plan they outline in the book who through thinking and doing notice opportunites. So true. Action and Intent. You must do and have both.

My favorite quote in the book "All the intention in the world won't get you a glass of water if you're not willing to go find the glass and fill it with water" (Dominguez) I do not know if he coined that expression or if it is an old adage. Doesn't matter. It just makes sense.

Anger Really Can Kill You: Study

Today I saw this article on Yahoo News. Interesting study that links the mind-body.

CHICAGO (Reuters) – Anger and other strong emotions can trigger potentially deadly heart rhythms in certain vulnerable people, U.S. researchers said on Monday.

Previous studies have shown that earthquakes, war or even the loss of a World Cup Soccer match can increase rates of death from sudden cardiac arrest, in which the heart stops circulating blood.

"It's definitely been shown in all different ways that when you put a whole population under a stressor that sudden death will increase," said Dr. Rachel Lampert of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, whose study appears in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Read more.

25 Random Things

All the rage on Face Book lately is the 25 Random Things. You post your 25 things, tag a bunch of people, and wait for a response. It is fascinating. What I find especially fascinating is how many friends of mine list that they have seen a ghost, believe in ghosts, think they have ESP, or have gone to see a psychic. What is most surprising is that most of the people who listed these things on the random list are people who I would have gone out of my way to be careful not to mention or allude to that I was raised by mediums. Not that I have anything to hide, but, why bring something up if you think it is just going to trouble people? Apparently, most would not have had a problem. Maybe this is just more evidence that our world is moving into a more spiritual, intuitive new age.

The Law of Use

Last night at class the discussion was about the Law of Use. Simply put, the Law of Use relates to how people use objects or even talents in their physical environment and as to whether the objects or talents are being used in a manner that attracts or repels high vibratory energy.

In regards to objects, the old axiom to only take what you can use hold true. You do not need more. To hoard objects just makes energy stale. The hoarded objects may have value for someone else and it is better for everyone to just let go of the objects before they fall into another phase of the Law of Use: decay.

This Law holds true for our talents and gifts. If you use your natural talents you make a difference. When you squelch your natural talents you deprive the world of the benefit of your talent and that goes against the Law of Use.

Now, here is the important part, in my humble opinion. The Law of Use in regards to physical objects greatly impacts the Law of Use in regards to our mental talents. When we let go of the clutter, the chaos, and the decay of physical things around us we can better open our hearts and minds to follow our talents and gifts. For me, when I cleared out my home of physical objects I didn't need I became considerably keener in my ability to apply my energies towards my talents.

If you have no energy to pursue a hobby, possible vocation, artistic expression, or even advanced education that will allow you to shine your mental, emotional, and spiritual gifts to the world in the most full and authentic way, start with the Law of Use on a physical level. Get rid of all the physical stuff that bogs you down and pass it along to someone who will really benefit. Donate it, recycle it, sell it, give it away, or (eeks!) throw it away. When the dust settles, and you swept that up, you may find you have the physical and mental space to set forth the Law of Use and use your talents to express yourself.

Story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and one another

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another

Animal Communication

Today I googled the search tern "Animal Consciousness" and stumbled upon this blog Wisdom From The Animals, a blog by a woman who communicates with animals. Here is the website SpotSaid.

There is definitely an intelligence in animals. What piqued my interest in this subject for today has been the actions on my dear cat. It is as if he can tell time and he paces and meows each day just before 5pm, dinner time. Sometimes, he wishes for what we call the back-up dry food, the "kitty junk food" and when he wants that food he will go to the cabinet and pull the door open, even when we have just filled his dish with the regular "healthy" dry food. He greets us at the door with meows and he likes to play and run. Looking into his eyes, and interacting with him on a daily basis, it seems that there is definitely an intelligence there. Maybe greater than ours. All he needs to be happy is food in the dish, water in the bowl, a comfy spot on the bed, room to run and play, and lots of love and affection. That's all he needs. No more, no less. He just is.

Out On A Limb

I just read Shirley MacLaine's book Out On A Limb. She is a person who truly expresses her belief in that which is consciousness-based without holding back. Her open-mindedness to new ideas, her desire to question and learn, and her reflections about herself and how she relates to others, makes this a book worth reading even twenty-five years after it was first published. One of her moments of affirmation in something spiritual, beyond herself, came from repeatedly hearing the phrase along the lines of to get the fruit you have to go out on a limb from mediums during channeling sessions, friends, and the connections she made. Synchronistic? Yes, and that is the stuff we should be paying attention to.

Google this phrase and lots of new-age, self-development, and spirituality based websites come up. Maybe a bit trite, maybe even over-used now, but it is true. You do have to go out on a limb if you want to get the fruit. Sure, some trees just drop the fruit down to the ground, but then it gets wormy and bruised and maybe it is over-ripened. Much better to go out and pick your own bounty - fresh, new, and at peak.

So, do you have any plans to go out on a limb?

By the way, she has a website that is filled with lots of consciousness based services, products, and information. Shirley MacLaine website.

Today I found an interesting website called Current.com and Current TV. The station was started by Al Gore and Joel Hyatt in 2005 as an alternative cable television news outlet and it is made up of viewer created content, VC2. Check out this interesting short article about Dark Network in Brain = Time Travel. This isn't dark as in the dark side, but rather a neuroscientific description of the brain default mode.
